Nexteq i-PPP Data Sheet Nexteq i-PPP Brochure

The global augmentation data generation technology is licensed from Natural Resource Canada (NRCan). A subset of 60 stations is selected from a global network of over a hundred real-time GNSS tracking stations to optimize receiver tracking performance, minimize data latency and offer uniform global satellite coverage. Redundant data processing servers hosted at two data centre locations, with managed environments with access to multiple communication channels and power backup facilities, provide the highly reliable global augmentation data.

With redundant data broadcasting servers located at different sites, and real-time monitoring of servers, i-PPP provides virtually 100% availability of the augmentation data globally.

The i-PPP positioning algorithm has been developed at Nexteq based on more than 10 years of PPP experiences from the key engineers. The patented ionosphere delay mitigation technology, the strong and effective Quality Control, along with its novel positioning algorithm provide highly reliable and accurate positioning results.

Nexteq i-PPP Service Overview

Nexteq’s i-PPP™ service is the first Internet based GNSS global augmentation system for sub-meter to decimetre level positioning accuracy. Unlike existing satellite based augmentation systems, i-PPP broadcasts augmentation data through an Internet link (e.g. cellular network) to effectively avoid the augmentation satellite blockage problem in harsh environments and greatly reduce the correction acquisition cost for end users.

i-PPP uses a global network of over a hundred real-time GNSS tracking stations to optimize receiver tracking performance, minimize data latency and offer uniform global satellite coverage and accuracy. Redundant data processing servers hosted at two managed data centre locations with access to multiple communication channels and power backup facilities, provide the highly reliable global augmentation corrections. Redundant data broadcasting servers sited at different locations guarantee virtually 100% availability of corrections.

Methodology

The i-PPP service provides state space error corrections for GNSS satellite orbits and clocks. These corrections are generated from the data provided by a global tracking network of dual frequency GNSS receivers. These corrections are then broadcasted to i-PPP enabled GNSS handhelds, receivers and other devices through the Internet. No proprietary radio equipment is needed and off-the-shelf wireless Internet networking equipment and cellular devices can be used, thereby avoiding the line-of-sight requirements of existing satellite augmentation systems while also greatly reducing system costs.

A significant GNSS error source, the ionosphere delay, is eliminated with Nexteq dual frequency receivers, and is mitigated by patented Nexteq processing technology in its single frequency receivers. Other significant error sources, such as the tropospheric delay are estimated to achieve the best possible accuracy.
